WTF I LIETERALLY THOUGHT IT WAS ABOUT DOGS UNTIL NOW I AM 20 YEARS OLD

of course it was, why would he actually sing about real dogs and why they got out

No it isn’t. It’s actually talking about the men who predate upon women in clubs, calling them dogs, not ‘ugly women’. Just look at the lyrics:
And tell the fellas stop the name callin’Yepee ah yoThen them girls respond to the callI hear a woman shout outWho let the dogs outWoof, woof, woof, woof, woof
Or if that isn’t clear enough for you that it’s women quite clearly calling the men dogs then read this next bit:
Get back gruffy, mash scruffyGet back you flea infested mongrelNow I tell meh self dem man go get angryAh yepee ah yoTo hear them girls calling them canine
It’s saying that men who attack women for being ‘ugly’ or refuse to leave them alone are worse than stray mongrels! It plainly points out that women do not want or appreciate the attention and so taunt them with the verse of ‘who let the dogs out’ because they are both unable to control themselves and vile little creatures. Learn to do some fucking research.

It’s about how cat calling guys are awful.

Preparing for Dia de los Muertos and remembering all the loss of life this year in the community and out. The alarming number of  TWOC that have been murdered this year was at the front of my mind. I started making them memorial candles.

They are not forgotten and never will be.
89% of LGBTQ murders in 2013 were of Trans women of color.
I pray that when you are signing petitions and marching for Trayvon, Mike Brown, gay marriage, and abortion rights to remember that statistic. These women and SO SO many others….. are gone. Due to hatred and bigotry.  Stand up for our sisters. ALL women . ALL women of color.

Hey, kids!

I noticed that today is the last day of eShakti’s 30% off sale! I know well that getting cute and/or respectable clothes is extraordinarily frustrating and expensive. eShakti is good for well-made and well-fitting pretty dresses or work wear/interview clothes in sizes 0-36W. The clothes are lovely! See a few of my favorites above. They also do customization and custom sizing on pretty much anything for a super cheap flat rate. But they a shade expensive.

Let me help you out! Looks like they’re still running their referral program. It’s really helped me out in the past. Click here and you will (I hope) be directed to a form that nabs you $35 off your first order!

I’ll get $20 in store credit myself. Maybe I’ll start saving up for an interview dress, in the hopes of one day having a job. Get those discounts, my loves!

Lao Advice for Falangs #2

Hey, we know you backpackers love to trek around Southeast Asia (especially Laos), on an adventure! And even more when you stumble upon the sleepy (well, used to be-) town of Vang Vieng, once a place famous for its scenery and limestone caves and ecotourism - Transformed into a party town nearly overnight.

I hope you are aware the party town reputation is literally making Laos a place for drug trafficking, tourists drunken deaths, and the destruction of the lively hood of locals. It was even so bad once, around 2012-2013 the government shut down Vang Vieng bars to prevent these disasters and deaths from occurring. There is so much more issues that is at play here, but let the pictures tell the story.

And no, you’re not helping our country’s economy with your grateful gift of tourism. You’re destroying the town’s and overall, country’s livelihood. Of course, we don’t mind visitors at all. We are happy to welcome people. Just don’t act disrespectful and ignorant.

cis people get pronouns. trans people get preferred pronouns.

cis people get a gender. trans people get to identify as a gender.

these are microaggressions designed to undermine and invalidate who we know ourselves to be, and to reinforce the perceived inauthenticity of trans people.

this is always harmful, and for some, primarily trans feminine people and esp trans feminine poc, it can be dangerous or deadly.

We never say that all men deserve to feel beautiful. We never say that each man is beautiful in his own way. We don’t have huge campaigns aimed at young boys trying to convince them that they’re attractive, probably because we very rarely correlate a man’s worth with his appearance. The problem is that a woman’s value in this world is still very much attached to her appearance, and telling her that she should or deserves to feel beautiful does more to promote that than negate it. Telling women that they “deserve” to feel pretty plays right in to the idea that prettiness should be important to them. And having books and movies aimed at young women where every female protagonist turns out to be beautiful (whereas many of the antagonists are described in much less flattering terms) reinforces the message that beauty has some kind of morality attached to it, and that all heroines are somehow pretty.

jobhaver:

Im sure most of my followers on here are at least peripherally aware of a page I help moderate called transhousingnetwork because I reblog posts from there often.

It is a page where trans people who are in need of shelter (most often temporary, emergency shelter) but who are unable to or feel unsafe getting it elsewhere. The way this page works is by way of people who are willing to read, signal boost and respond to “need couch’ posts and hopefully submit “have couch” posts advertising available space.

Demand for emergency shelter for trans people is especially high in all major metro areas but especially those in California (especially the Bay Area and Los Angeles) and the Pacific Northwest (especially Portland, Seattle, and Olympia) which tend to be major centers of refuge for a lot of trans people.

I’m making this post to spread awareness of the blog transhousingnetwork and especially to encourage anyone residing in one of those major metro centers on the west coast to signal boost or respond to some of the recent posts up on there and to submit “have couch” posts if you are able.

A lot of the people who are posting on there are on the street or imminently facing homelessness and in many cases have been turned away from or faced harassment, violence, and sexual assault in shelters and this page is their last resort.

Thanks everyone who reads this and can help

whitepeoplestealingculture:

This post was inspired by this picture:

This picture is reblogged always by the white people appropriating cultures and not caring when they are called out upon it. These people care more about the animals than the human beings they profit off of, and I thought that was hilarious so I had to make a set just like the picture above.

All in all, this is a message to the honkies: stay in your lane.

Wait. Yoga, though????

The luaus, the headdresses, the Ta moko, the dreads, etc— yes, I totally see where you’re coming from. The yoga one, though, seems a little weird to me. I know there’s probably greater meaning to yoga beyond it being a strenuous, disciplined workout and exercise in meditation, but I don’t see how it’s harmful to adopt a new type of exercise that’s better suited for your body???

My doctor told me to take up yoga as an alternative to high-stress/adrenaline exercises because it would strengthen my body without destroying it— but I can’t because I’m stealing culture? Someone please explain this to me.

I think the issue with yoga is that it’s repacked and striped of it’s roots for the consumption of people who really don’t understand the history or roots of yoga, they take out all the ‘boring’ history and religion, and leave a few words like ‘Namaste’ to feel spiritual, but they never actually talk about Buddhism or Hinduism. There is also something disturbing about the fact that when a western person thinks about yoga they don’t picture an Indian person practicing their religion, but a white lady with blonde hair in spandex.

LOL man.

never forget white people did nothing first neither the best, they sleep and eat false propaganda,

Ugh, why the shit does that have to turn into a race thing? Why does EVERYTHING have to turn into a race thing?

because white people have made sure that everything is about race
as proved by the fact that when you say explorer, you think of a bunch of white guys walking the world and discovering it ~exotic wonders~ even though Zheng He travelled through Asia, to the Middle East, and even East Africa. But you’d likely never heard of him before.
Same reason you never heard of Ahmad Ibn Fadlan, an Arab traveller who, as early as the 10th century, went to the Volga area for diplomatic reasons. He wrote about it, much as Marco Polo would do later for his own travels, and is one of our sources on what viking were like (and by all accounts, he wrote about them more accurately than western scholars of the same period did)
Oh, or Ibn Battuta who travelled throughout Africa long before europeans did, and even went to Europe himself.
And that’s just some example of Muslim medieval travel writers
Everything is about race because white people keep telling everyone that their race is the only one who every got anything done.
